Sexuality is a model comprised of various different aspects of human life including biology, reproduction, culture, entertainment and relationships.

In the last decade there has been a greater quest to acknowledge a “right to sexuality” has arisen in both individuals and society. This has caused a new and more explicit call to intervene with sufferers, or at least, those who think they suffer from sexual and relationship differences.

This has caused an increase in attention of medicine and psychology to help with sexual dysfunctions. Science has helped aid sexology in the last few years, and has helped to increase the amount of tools in order to help sexological diagnosis.

There are a numerous sexual dysfunctions, and each of them have a different cause. The field of sexology provides several different evaluation devices in order to examine the different aspects of discomfort or dysfunction. Below are some of the most used or best known reactives.

ASEX

Arizone Sexual Experience Scale (ASEX) is a test intended to assess the sexual dysfunctions in patients with health problems. It helps to evaluate moder modifications and alterations of sexual functions in relation to taking medicines or recreational drugs.

It is a self-report questionnaire that can be administered by a clinician or even self-administered. It is made up of five items, that are rated out of six points. Each questions include aspects of sexuality, including sex dirve, arousal, erections, lubrication, orgasm ability, and climax satisfaction.

ASKAS

Aging sexuality knowledge and attitudes scale (ASKAS) is a questionnaire that is aimed at finding out peoples sexuality and sexual attitudes. It is made up of 61 different questions that are answered by true or false.

ASKAS has been used to study the effects of sexual education on nursing home residents, their relatives and the staff of the nursing homes thoughts on sexuality in the elderly.

It was noted that once the nursing home staff received a sexual educationthey became more tolerant about  the elderly having sexual intercourse. More over, there was an increase in sexual activity in the elderly once they had received a sexual education.

BSRI

Bem sex-role inventory (BSRI) is a self-administering questionnaire that contains sixty different items, 20 masculine, 20 feminine, and 20 androgyny.

DAS

The dyadic adjustment scale (DAS) is a scale that is made up of 32 different items. The questions explores 4 different dimensions are designed to evaluate the relationship between husband and wife on important matters including satisfaction, common activities, and expression of satisfaction.

DIQ

Diagnostic impotence questionnaire (DIQ) is a questionnaire that is made up of 35 items that evaluate the components in erectile dysfunction. It is made up of Vascular, Neurogenic, Hormonal and Psychogenic based questions that allow the therapist to determine the factors that are responsible for the sexual dysfunction.

If the vascular, neurogenic and hormonal components add up to more than the psychogenic one, then you can determine the reason for the sexual dysfunction.

DSFI

DSFI or derogatis sexual function inventory is a standardised self-evaluated questionnaire made up of 258 different questions. It produces nine different sexual dimensions that includes information, experience, sexual drive, attitudes, affection, sexual gender, sexual fantasies, body image, and sexual satisfaction. It also includes a section about psycho-pathological symptoms such as anxiety, depression and somatizations.

EDITS

Erectile dysfunction inventory of treatment satisfaction (EDITS) is another self-evaluation questionnaire that helps those who suffer from erectile dysfunction determine the reason behind the sexual dysfunction.

THE EDITS questionnaire is made up of 13 different questions with 5 more. It explores achievements, satisfaction and treatment effectiveness. The questions are for men and aim to study expectations, effectiveness, side effect, and their drive to continue with the treatment.
